Lol. The Secret History, at the time of publication was one of a very few books including magic as a central theme. It's a generational thing. Glad for your generation that magic books are everywhere now, but that hit very differently back in the day.

The only label I remember really floating about in the 90s/00s was 'Solitary Eclectic' which I used myself whenever asked if I was a member of a coven/tradition. I guess there were 'some' books about specific kinds of witches too (I still have my OG copies of Kate Wests 'Real Witches' Kitchen' and some of Ann Moira's Green Witch series of books which were of that time), but yeah, it definitely wasn't so delinated into really narrow categories like it is today. I do think that social media and the use of hashtags has contributed to some of this, along with the aesthetic drive of platforms like IG. I know I find labels useful when searching for information on certain kinds of magic, practices and traditons I'm interested in (e.g. folk magic, green witchcraft etc) but I find myself reticent to actually put a label on myself for the reasons you cited. These days I guess the closest I can describe the way I work as 'spit and sawdust', lol, it's like the complete opposite to anything ceremonial, is kind of scrappy and utilises what's to hand (very much inspired by Aidan Wachter calling himself a 'sticks and rocks kind of guy') but I am usually met with a blank stare when I tell people this because it's not an 'official' witchy label. And I say 'these days' because my practice has changed and evolved over time, which I think is going to happen for most folks. The magic I practiced and my view of the 'Craft' looks very different now than it did in, say, 1997, and that's ok, healthy even. Like you say Ivy, labels can be useful and even fun and as it seems to be the way we navigate our search for information and connection in online spaces, this trend is unlikely to be going away anytime soon. So hopefully, as long we are aware that putting ourselves into a witchy box 'could' (consciously or unconsciously) limit our personal growth and expansion of our practice, we all remember to hold such labels lightly.

I often have prophetic dreams that come true weeks or months later but I can never decipher beforehand which dreams are going to become true beforehand. Deja reve is the term I think. This has given me the understanding that our night time dreams may well be the most effective hyper-sigils of all. As a person who doesn't believe the future is certain this makes much more sense to me than any powers of prophecy.

I would say consent is a non issue. Most people exchange energy's all day long without even being aware of it. Plus in the example of being at a religious service or concert where the energy is just overflowing seems a little silly to look for consent. Thank you for your efforts and this video.

If they don't like it it's not your problem Me and my partner are having a witchy wedding and her mom and family is very Christian but we told them about it and taught them what it's about. The handfasting ceremony is used in many cultures but they knew it was our wedding so if we tell them to chill out they did. I think you should have the wedding you dreamed of

It’s weird cuz I’ve physically heard stuff though they don’t respond when I say something but man one straight up said hello and I shot right out of bed lol a bag of cat food shot out at me at Walmart and the worker there was very confused lol I couldn’t do psychic witch cuz I can’t visualize so I freaked out on it then once calm regifted it lol how do u know if a spirit is around?

I’m kind of a lazy witch but not to the point that I won’t do anything. I just like easy plus I’ve been trying to understand how to just use what I have. I’m also chronically ill so the constant tiredness is really heavy and then I’m also forgetful and get side tracked easily lol I love messing around with things. I’m also autistic and adhd so I do struggle with executive function so it’s been a complicated journey for me. I gave up on meditation cuz I can’t visualize or at least do it on command cuz I’ve accidentally done it when trying to fall asleep. Just figuring out what works for my nuerodivergent brain has been a nightmare lol so sorry u had to hide some vids cuz of haters. I use to compare myself to other ppl

But if you would want a book recommendation of a less ‘weird’ version of The Tree that Grows from Hell, I recommend “The Ghost Dance” by Michael Stuart Ani :) hes and anthropologist and it’s written in I think a really cool way. He explains how he learned about this ritual through the experiences he had with spirits. So it’s kind of a mix of anthropological reporting, history, and a cozy but spooky story you could listen to or read on a train, plane, or long car ride :)
